PTC and F.U.C.K. (respectively)

I was recently reading the Wikipedia entry for Fringe, and saw something that caught my attention. I read that a non-profit organization called PTC ranked it as the worst show of Broadcast television. So, I decided to look up what exactly PTC was. Apparently it's the Parents Television council, and as their website states,

The PTC aims to provide parents with the tools they need to make informed television viewing decisions. We do this by monitoring primetime television shows on broadcast TV and reviewing many PG and G rated movies. We log all content that could be considered questionable by parents and we give them traffic light ratings according to the amount of sex, violence, and profanity incorporated into the series or film.

They do that by dividing the shows into 3 categories: Red, Yellow and Green. Red is bad, yellow is somewhat bad, and green is "Family safe". I poked around on their website for a bit, and looked at what they rated my favorite shows.

30 Rock- Yellow.
"While violence is not a concern on this program, sexual innuendo and language are a problem and frequently involve Tracy Morgan’s character. It is not uncommon to hear one of the writers make a comment about “boobs” or to see secretary Cerie wearing next to nothing while working. Words such as “ass” and “bitch” are used frequently. 30 Rock is not recommended for children under 14."

House- Red.
"Violence, sex and language are frequent problems in this series. In the season opener, House disdains having to treat a feminist patient. “I dated her,” he says. “Well, not really. More metaphorically raped her by having a penis.” House frequently sexually harasses his colleagues by commenting on their personal lives and their appearances. Other sexual content includes, but is not limited to, references to pornography and masturbation. There are often scenes containing medical violence, such as depictions of surgeries and medical procedures. Foul language such as the words “bitch” and “ass” are used in almost every episode. House is not recommended for viewers under age 18."

As you can see, these reviews are so outlandish it's as if Flanders himself wrote them.
They also encourage writing to the FCC. For realz.
You can visit them, which is good for a few laughs and some hatred of the human race, by going to their website at http://www.parentstv.org/

I am so confident that I won't see anything as daft as this as the week progresses, I am labeling the PTC an EPIC FAIL for the week of February 1st, 2009.
[insert epic fail graphic here]

I was recently reading a topic on some forums that I frequent (god it took me a long time to remember that word), and I saw someone who posted about Britney Spears' new song If You Seek Amy. This song is, for lack of an awesomer word, genius.
Fave line?
Oh baby baby, if you seek Amy tonight.

Oh, did I mention the PTC hates the song? And wants it banned? Thereby justifying my point by about 1 centillion. That's .

I got my first comment! Hooray!!!! So, thank you Mortis, for your not-dated-at-all 90's reference!

  1. I thought PTC stood for Parent Teacher Conference. Also thought F.U.C.K. was something else entirely. Showing my age.
